| Get ready to GO DARK: International Dark Sky Week is almost here |
| Each year in April, around the new moon, our global community comes together to celebrate International Dark Sky Week. This year, the celebration begins on Monday, April 13, inviting people everywhere to go dark with us by stepping outside, getting to know the night a little better, and building support for its protection. While many already understand that the night is vital to life on Earth, others are just beginning to realize its importance. This week of learning and exploration helps grow that awareness. Around the world, our community is hosting dark sky–themed events, from star parties and neighborhood night walks to city proclamations and trivia nights at local breweries. Explore our IDSW global events map featuring more than 150 independent gatherings organized by Chapters, Advocates, DarkSky Places, and supporters like you, and find resources to host your own activity. We invite you to join the celebration by attending an event near you or tuning in to one of DarkSky’s virtual seminars throughout the week. However you choose to take part, we hope you take a moment to step outside, dim the lights, and experience the night. Then share the wonder and importance of the night with someone else.
